Seeing Clearly

Last week I attended a speaker series. The community storyteller who opened the session, Roy Bear Chief, shared the following slide.

I found the most intriguing part of this the final statement, particularly the notion of perception relative to truth and accuracy. I had a paradigm shift of my own around the time I turned 30. I chose to believe a new set of truths about myself and it really has made all the difference. I've learned to quiet the committee in my head and follow my heart and intuition in service of others. I stopped making it about myself at all (even worrying too much about if you're good enough, should do something, etc. is your ego getting in the way).

This individual paradigm shift has been hugely powerful for me as a young woman trying to take her turn and do her part to have an impact. This slide last week was really helpful to name that  change in mindset and also get me thinking about what other shifts I can have internally and help to bring about externally. In some way it's so easy as it is just a matter of changing enough people's worldview, however, that's also something that can be a challenge as we have a tendency to get stuck and fear change. As usual though, I have hope.
