Sheryl Sandberg's commencement speech I wrote about yesterday keeps cropping back up for me. The resilient P's hadn't stuck out at me as obviously at first as other aspects of powerful her speech.
As I've reflected though, I realized that personalization is definitely something I can struggle with. Hardships sometimes take me longer to bounce back from because I can take them personally or sometimes shelter other people from it for fear of them taking it personally. It's an important part of failing forward or even succeeding. It's the seriously, but not personally that Seth Godin speaks of.
Easing up with personalization is another part of the dance I'm starting to learn the steps for on the path of leaving the world a little better than I found it.
