There was lots of talk about all of David Bowie's gifts to the world when he passed away earlier this year. He gave so much. Trevor Noah of the Daily Show shared this as their Moment of Zen as that show's tribute:
“The other thing I would say is that if you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth, and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.”
Some days the feet not touching is scary. That fight or flight instinct starts to kick in and you feel like running back to the safety of the shore where things are certain. Then a couple small little miracles happen and you start to see that the things you're hoping for are starting to come into reality and it fuels you to head a little further out to sea. Into the unknown. The place where things might not work. The place where you have a chance to be generous, make a difference and maybe even a change.
