Tension we often perceive as a negative word. Like conflict, it has gotten a bad wrap for some reason. However, there are positive versions of both of these.
In our instant gratification world we can jump too quick to the resolution because we're uncomfortable with the tension that occurs before. Building our muscle to stay in the discomfort a little bit longer can lead to clarity and a much bigger payoff when we arrive. It's like the ending of a great symphony, many of which can take minutes to resolve a final cadence.
Making space for exploration, tension and uncertainty while we are flaring out can make us uneasy, especially since we still may fail. Either way we're closer to making something that matters.
