Joy Over Fear

I'm reading Paul Born's book Deepening Community. It's an inspiring and yet practical description of the different kinds of communities we have in our world and how we can put ourselves on a path toward a deeper one.

The part that stood out to me thus far was choosing joy over fear. That every time we take this simple step we deepen community and fill up ourselves. Taking a "we're all in this together" mindset to our decisions. With this we can transcend and transform by doing good together.

It's a great personal check for me. It can be so easy to default to making a decision out of fear. How many times have I listed all the what if's (many of which were probably unlikely) regarding the outcome of a situation? My resolution to myself is to be on guard for this with myself and others. When we feel fear at the base of our decisions, how can we flip our mindset to see the situation and outcomes as glass-half full and make joy the basis for moving forward?
