Why is it important I am here today?

Building off of Paul Born's questions from the Sharing Stories chapter in Deepening Community, I'm posing this question for myself: Why is it important I am here today?

I'm on my 72nd day of blogging. The purpose of this blog was to put all of the stories that were going on in my head out into the world. It's a daily practice of creation and courage. It's sorting through the story that I'm telling myself all of the time that builds who I am. It's acknowledging that I have stories to share with other people. This sharing sometimes helps others understand their own story and through that mine becomes clearer too.

Why am I reading Paul's book? Because writing this blog was something I had to do.  A yearning to express. In the same way, I also crave deeper connections with others, for myself and the world. If you have this craving, Paul's book calls to you. It feeds your heart with stories of community, gives your mind the tools and evidence for building more of it and inspires your hands to get going.

Through these daily reflections, I've clarified my own story and have started to step more firmly on the path of my own life's purpose. Deepening Community is helping me to understand how to connect with others as part of this journey. To make space for and encourage this kind of powerful story sharing. In many ways to get back to where I came from and the natural instincts we have as good, social beings.
