"What we know matters, but who we are matters more. Being rather than knowing requires showing up and letting ourselves be seen. It requires us to dare greatly, to be vulnerable."
Brené Brown, Daring Greatly
The funny thing about who we are is it is all based on the story we have invented for ourselves. We tell ourselves a story of what our capacity is, what work we should be doing or are capable of, who we should work with, what our worth is, how much time we have. What's your answer to any of these questions? Are you happy with it? Is it helping you to realize the impossible?
I used to think I needed others to first ask me or make space for who I wanted to be. That I needed permission from someone else to be what my heart was calling me toward. It all clicked when someone helped me realize that I just needed to start acting as the kind of person and leader that felt natural to me. I took who I was into my own hands and started to tell myself a different story and that has made all the difference.
