As much as we talk about the stories that shape us, our brain loves images.*
I had the privilege of participating in a series of leadership workshops that were based on neuroscience. I took many things away from this, some of which are probably still embedded in my sub-conscious and will surface over time.
One of these things is that when we are defining goals for ourselves or others, our brain would rather remember these as images rather than words. I did a vision board of who I am and what my life's purpose is all about. Among all the pictures I put together, there was one that stood out for my heart and mind. I find it much easier to keep this front and centre than a bunch of words. The pleasure centres in my brain get activated whenever I think of it and it makes me want to come back to it often.
We spend a lot of time as individuals or organizations coming up with mission statements, vision, values. This is important to have in essence, but less important to get caught up in the semantics of. Get the gist and then find an image you can hold close and manifest daily.
