What's your favourite way to be in community? Is it playing and having fun? Caring for one another? Treasuring everyday interactions?
I get a weekly inspirational email through the website for Deepening Community. Yesterday it was about what your most powerful community experiences are and reflecting on these to learn more about where you feel the most alive and connected. Which way of being in community fills you up and should you ensure you get lots of?
Mine is no surprise. It's caring. While I love any version of community (except fear/hate based ones), it's memories of people caring for myself and others that are my most powerful community experiences.
I was fortunate enough to have one of those experiences yesterday. It was my wedding shower with my work family. While we had SO much laughter and fun together, the part that I'll remember and that brought tears to my eyes, was how much thought and care had been put into this. From the theme and food based on our honeymoon destination, to all the little decor touches, everyone's advice and well-wishes for our marriage and finally an amazing video of all of my colleagues lip syncing and staging music videos for I Got You Babe and Ob La Di, Ob La Da, I was overflowing with love by the end.
It's now a very special powerful community experience that has been added to others that revolve around freely giving and receiving care. It's my favourite community flavour. What's yours?
