Dreams: Planning for Social Change

Dreams can be very helpful. They can give us a light to strive toward and motivate us. They can help us think through things in further detail. They transport us to a version of the future that our heart is hoping for. They help us imagine the steps we need to take to reach the version of the future we're hoping for. Mentally turning dreams into reality is a useful skill that you can learn through dreaming in more detail and then trying to put it into action.

As Paul Born said in the final chapter of Deepening Community " a dream is much more than a wish; it is a full-color, multi-dimensional window into the future."

Dreaming is also one of those activities that can be the inhale or moral oxygen that helps to sustain us. Sharing those hopes and dreams compounds this. When it comes to an activity like planning, I wonder how the process would change if we called it dreaming. If we tried to link our heads and our hearts to help figure out where we are headed. If we spend more time clarifying your/a collective dream before figuring out a plan. How much more powerful (and fun) would this be?
