Seth Godin is someone I look up to. He's often asked how how he has time to blog everyday. His answer usually includes how many of us claim to be so busy while not actually doing anything.
Our lives are filled now with being busy without actually doing anything opportunities. Not just from things from things like apps and social media, but the sheer pace at which we are often expected to operate. It's so easy to get caught up in this. To multi-task and try to accomplish a variety of tasks at at the time time instead of focusing on just one. My monkey mind doesn't help this. It can get easily distracted and try to jump to the next tree before I've finished with the one I'm on.
I think this is the thing that Seth and others like him have mastered and allows them to be so successful and seem to have time to get so much stuff done. They've figured out how focus on doing the things that matter and filter the rest out. They are very intentional about how they manage their time and how much energy they spend on certain types of decisions. I'm on a path to try to get there too. There's been progress and I'm looking forward to making more.
