Small Shifts

I wrote yesterday about the five characteristics of social movements as identified by Al Etmanski. I've been pushing these around in my head since then. These patterns that he has identified make a lot of sense when you read them. However, they are not as easy to practice, especially within our current culture.

Imagination and small shifts are what are sticking with me. How to focus on a series of small shifts in imagination instead of traditional plans for change. And how to use art within this. Its opening the heart to open the mind and celebrating progress not perfection.

It's tricky to comprehend how to bring about a shift in imagination. I think one of the fun parts about this will be opening our own imaginations and testing and tinkering how to make small shifts in how others are thinking. There may be some opening up of ourselves before we are ready to think and act like a movement.
