Geeking Out

I was working on a bucket list for a friend this week and a number of the google results suggested starting a collection. I think it's a great idea, especially if you expand the concept a little to find something to be a geek about.

Having something, likely a little frivolous, that you just love is really special. I'm a geek about my work too, I love community building and the charitable sector an immense amount, but that's not what I'm talking about. Whether it is music, books, stamps, sports, video games, have something you can geek out about in moderation can be really fun.

I'm a big Harry Potter geek. Basically our whole trip to London in a few weeks is centered around it. This is the first time I've been in full geek mode in awhile. To the point where my husband, who has known me for nearly 5 years, wasn't aware of the depths of my Harry Potter love until we started to plan this trip. This wasn't conscious, it kind of just happened. Little reminder to let my geek flag fly more often. There's a playfulness to it as well that I like a lot. A wonderful childishness to it that is filled with joy and fun.
