Seth's blog today was about leaks. How when we walk by a faucet we turn it off and yet in other aspects of our life we'll see a leak and then find a way to ignore it.
How often do we avoid a conversation with someone who intentionally or unintentionally is doing something that is causing the organization harm? How often do we tell ourselves that someone else (more experienced, with more seniority, etc.) will surely point out the leak if it really is an issue? How often are we afraid that pointing something out will also mean the possible hard work of turning off the leak?
It can be small from stopping to pick up garbage on the floor to insisting that you need to listen to your customer's feedback, even though it will mean a huge revamp of something within your organization. We need to make sure that we are consistently stopping and turning off the faucet.
