I revisited the contribution question for the altMBA. The time that I have contributed way more than I expected was through this blog. Here's my blog post about my blog (blogception!).
Almost six months ago I started a practice of daily blogging. It was for myself. To work through the many thoughts and experiences I was having while on a journey to make the world a better place. I wanted to create a daily practice of reflection and also strengthen my own voice and perspective and get comfortable with sharing that with the world. I had/have a habit of letting my own voice get lost. I shared the blog with a small number of people whose opinion I trust in hopes that they would share feedback and engage in conversation about the things I've been pushing around in my own head. Over this time I've been so surprised at those same people who have let me know how inspiring and thought provoking they find my blog. That it challenges their thinking and opens them up to new learning experiences. It's a small number of people who read it regularly. However, they are all individuals I have seen do amazing things and I know have many remarkable gifts to share with the world. I'm surprised and honored to know that sharing my voice each day with them helps to motivate and sustain them in their own journeys. In turn, their gratitude and sharing of thoughts back to me inspires me to keep going. My blog is probably not the biggest impact I've made, as I have been privileged to get to work for many amazing charities in my career, but it is what I am proudest of to date and what has surprised me most in terms of my contribution.
