Receiving

One of the ways I've tried to stretch myself is to learn to receive things from others. That probably sounds a little weird.

"Receive it". This statement was one of the wisest things that a dear friend of mine said to me as she paid me a compliment and I immediately looked for ways to deflect. It was a reflex for me to respond in this way. I've gotten much better at just saying thank you. I realized that receiving the compliment genuinely made everyone feel good and it's taught me to value and be OK with my own strength and value I bring to the world. 

This piece of advice is probably the one I offer the most often to others. So simple. Accepting generosity and then being more generous yourself in return. Such a beautiful thing.
