I watched a great Stanford Social Innovation Review webinar today about collective leadership. Most of it focused around finding the right people, trusting them and intentionally investing in their leadership development often.
I took away many great points. There's something that stuck with me though. Two of the guests gave examples of interview questions that they always use and I loved the simplicity and power in them.
- How many people are you grateful for?
- How many bad days do you have in a given year?
Being hopeful and gracious are two things that are hard to teach. I also think these wise leaders have found a way to test whether their potential employees will be joyful individuals who are grateful for the team members and the work they get to do together. I just love the gracious question as I believe leaning into gratitude has the power to lighten any moment and shift our perspective for the better.
