There's an archetype of a hero in western society and it usually involves a single person struggling through, shouldering much burden to protect others and eventually, after they are very tired and weary, reaching the top of the metaphorical mountain of triumph.
It seems to be in our psyche. To not be able to succeed on your own is failure. It's your own fault if you struggle because you didn't have others to depend (One of the main contributors to why individuals end up homeless, another post for another time).
What's wrong with only succeeding because you had to rely on other people? I don't think anyone would disagree with the fact that we're stronger and better when we work together and yet we, or at least I, seem to struggle with really leaning into and depending on others. It's time to take the trust fall and believe that others will catch us and will only appreciate us more because we asked for their help.
