There are very few books that after you read them you think about them every day. The War of Art is one of these for me.
Now when I'm feeling stuck, I'm in the midst of drama or I'm noticing vicious cycles in myself and others, I look for the resistance. Sometimes it's hard to see. It likes to hide from you. It does not want to be called out. Eventually though if you step back far enough or you analyze reoccurring patterns, you start to realize that whatever the negative thing is it's resistance manifesting itself.
The coolest thing about resistance is that we have the power to thwart it ourselves. We don't need to wait for someone else. We can start moving forward and being courageous and generous in our actions. We can stop second guessing ourselves and others. We can kick our habit of rescuing others and be delighted when we see that for the most part when people are given a chance they will step up. We can promise ourselves that we'll stop making excuses about why we can't act and just start figuring out how to move forward.
The battle with resistance is fought daily. Overcoming this more days than not is the emotional labour it will take to succeed in the connection economy. The future is for the artists. Those who dare to step up and create.
