One Step

One step can often make a big difference. When I'm having trouble falling asleep and I'm feeling like it's never going to happen, I coax myself into just counting my breaths for a minute and before I know it I'm off in dreamland.

The same is true for when I'm annoyed or overwhelmed. If I can just force myself to take one small step in the right direction it's like a snowball rolling downhill. The momentum picks up and the negative emotions melt away.  Before I know it I'm running at full steam again.

That one step makes a huge difference, especially if I've honored my feelings first and been honest with myself and hopefully others. That way I'm stepping forward with a pack that is not weighed down and feet that are light and ready to dance.
