During the altMBA we had to design and create collateral material for a marketing campaign in a single day. For me, it shone a light on how often we waste a lot of time in indecision or unsureness and how much productivity this can cost us in the end. It was amazing what we could produce when you had to act.
I loved so much about what we produced. I think we really understood the messaging and the audience in a short period of time. If I could relive the situation again, I would do less when it came to actually producing things.
We each produced a piece of collateral material and while they were all good, I wonder what would have happened if we only did one thing. If we had the bravery to just share a strong two minute video, a great concise website or one killer speech.
I see this all the time on cooking shows. The chef who has to flex all their skill and prepare an ingredient three ways loses to the chef who boldly puts a simple and perfectly executed plate together. The later has left themselves nothing to hide behind. Their food is naked to the world.
It takes this level of bareness and vulnerability to connect. It's the ultimate act of courage in creation.
