Gratitude and joy are the fourth guide post in Brené Brown's Gifts of Imperfection. They are that inner light and fullness of sufficiency. They are a light for us when it seems that all is dark.
They are also both a learned skill. We all have the ability to cultivate more gratitude and joy into our lives.
I'm more comfortable with gratitude than joy. Joy is the opposite of fear. Both of which are tied up with our ability to be vulnerable. We're able to vanquish the fear and fully experience joy only when we are vulnerable. To experience either is to speak our heart out loud.
It's scary though. To rely on our inner light to shine through rather than the external forces that we think make us look our best.
