My perfectionist tendencies means I am not always that self-compassionate toward myself. That's why I was intrigued when I learned about Dr. Kristen Neff's work in this area.
Her easy, and validated, test on self-compassion helps to anchor you into what you might need to work on. Unsurprisingly I need to work on increasing my self-compassion and decreasing my self-judgement. In an effort to do that, I'm fairly certain I scored more compassionately on this test than I would have a couple of years ago.
One of the ways I'm trying to create a practice around this is a gratitude journal. Specifically, I have to make at least one of the three things I record in that journal about why I'm grateful for me.
