Two Letters

No – Probably the hardest word for me and so many others. On her podcast Mentoring Moments, Denise Restauri shares the wisdom that we should say no in the beginning if we're feeling it. Otherwise we end up resenting whatever we said yes to and/or it saps energy from the things and people we know are most important to focus on.

I have a habit of not trusting my gut when it is saying no. I get into things that I'm only doing because I'm afraid of those two letters. I can end up using my time for things that aren't necessarily a great fit for me because I don't want to say no to someone or to a good idea.

The hard part is saying no often doesn't have anything to do with how good an idea or a person is. It's about figuring out how to best spend the little time I have in service of my higher purpose.  I need to trust that though there may be some initial disappointment, my relationship with this person will be better off because of those two letters.
