A couple of weeks ago Seth Godin wrote a blog about burning the boat. You should assume that your way out is gone. Things will be hard and if you have a way out, you just might take it.
Today at the midway point of a 40km bike ride, I was looking for an escape boat. I tried really hard to find one, but I found that it had been burned. I sucked it up and did the back 20km.
It was easier than I thought it would be, except for a few parts that still really sucked. It was a good reminder about how tempting a way out can seem when you are in the midst of something that's taking a lot of effort. And link a long bike ride, doing just about anything that will leave a mark takes everything you've got.
now that is encouraging
