Unknown Ending

I finished reading Come, Thou Tortoise by Jessica Grant yesterday. The book gave you a pretty good idea of the paths of many of the characters, but rarely answered anything unequivocally. The author left enough space for readers to put their own interpretations of characters backstories, motivations, futures, etc.

When I first finished the book, I took to Google and began to search for what I might have missed. Where was the definitive answer that I was looking for. Was there an insight that I'd skipped over? Or a character reference that I had forgotten?

It turns out that everyone was in the same boat. Many people have some to similar conclusions, though no one was quite sure and the author, even in interviews, would not give a more concrete answer.

Eventually frustration and fear of not having understood the book gave way to an appreciation. We've become less comfortable with ambiguity. I'm from a generation that was taught to the test and the fear of not having the right answer still rests inside me somewhere.
