I once got the advice to stop and take three breaths before you acted. I can't remember where this sage wisdom came from (I really need to get better at being mindful of this type of thing), but I've felt it's power.
Three breaths seems like such a short amount of time. In the moment it's power can be exponential. It slows us down enough to bring clarity to a situation and is brief enough that we don't lose any momentum.
Those three breaths reconnect our head, heart and head. They allow us to get back into sync. To look up from the urgency and see a little further down the road and make a better choice for our next step.
