Tonight I watched a candidate for municipal council step back and put their support behind someone else because they saw it was the best path to their end destination. They wanted change at council, increased transparency and a community voice in decision making, another candidate had a similar platform and they believed that if they stayed in the race it would split their vote. So they stepped back and threw their support behind this other candidate.
Surrendering to the best possible part we can play toward the end goal rather than thinking too much about how we feel or how others will perceive that part ensures we make it about the bigger vision and not our own ego.
