One of my favourite things about having to ship this blog everyday is it pushes me to search out inspiration. To keep reading, connecting and pexeriencing things that I think will fill me up enough to create.
Today I attended an event by imagiNation 150 – a group of Calgarians that have been dreaming audaciously about the future of Canada. It was the culmination of a series of roundtables they held throughout the last number of years on this subject.
It was a filling day, which I'm sure will make it the subject of many a blog post. There were so many amazing and insightful things offered by the facilitators, guest speakers and the other attendees. The words of Casey Eaglespeaker are standing out for me today though. In addition to being profound and authentic, his words and way of being reminded me of my Grandfather, which made what he had to stay a little stickier for me.
Mr. Eaglespeaker kept coming back to our humanity and how if we can just authentically live our own truth, we'll all be the leaders the world needs us to be. His analogy is that it is each of the stars in the sky shining their own light that creates the beauty when we look up on a clear night.
This kind of leadership must also be done together. Inspired by Casey's wise words, my personal commitment today is to not hold responsibility too tightly. To learn to lean in to others and share the leadership journey together. This is part of my ongoing imperfect path to shining my own truth.
