Edgewalking #VitalCityYYC

Jessica Bolduc describes edgewalkers as people who walk the edge of the boundary between status quo and change. The place where the tension builds and we get uncomfortable as we prepare to step into the uncertain on the other side.

She specifically puts it into the context of reconciliation and challenging us to go to the edge of our physical and metaphorical boundaries  between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. It is at these edges where we might create our shared and possible future together.

There are so many words for change agents. Changemaker, contrarian, innovator, agitator, ruckusmaker, the list goes on. Edgewalker may be my favourite yet. Moving from how something has always been done to a new way of doing things is not easy. The idea of standing at the edge of something encapsulates the physical and mental fear, doubt and anxiety that we feel when we engage in change.

Where are the edges in your life and how can you move a little closer to them? And in the case of reconciliation, where are the boundaries that maybe you haven't noticed before and how can you cross over them to help create a new and inclusive future for all.
