Letting off steam is a very accurate saying. Sometimes we just need to vent or release our frustration to make everything in the world seem right. It's actually the unreleased pressure that is causing the tension rather than any individual situation itself.
As someone who tries to maintain the perception of calm waters all the time, it can be a gift and a curse to be able to regulate my own upset/frustrated emotions. I'm learning though that releasing the steam is part of the process to work through the tension of walking on the edge.
