In his interview that ends In This Together, Senator Murray Sinclair shares a vision he had in a sweat lodge that helped to securely plant him on his life's journey of being a leader of people's heads and hearts. He's helped steward collective journeys for First Nations and those of us who came to this land much later.
It was this vision though in which he got his Grandparent's blessing that convinced him that this was the work he was supposed to be doing. It came at a point in time when he was struggling about whether he should practice law or not.
It's both a challenge to find and accept this kind of clarity. Once we open ourselves up and learn what our life's work is, it will take as much discipline and effort to not let our own self-doubt and anything else that comes our way knock us off this path.
It was comfort to me that someone as generous and intelligent as Senator Sinclair had a journey of his own to figure out his work.
