I've written a couple of posts about Senator Sinclair and Shelagh Rogers conversation that makes up the final chapter of In This Together. In the final pages Senator Murray Sinclair talks about what's next after the Truth and Reconciliation Report.
This report showed the path up the mountain and that we would need to keep climbing it everyday. Even once we get to the top, there will be another mountain in the distance because this work is all about relationships.
In his words:
Relationships are built on the understanding that every day is the establishment of a new relationship for that day. The fact that you successfully got through your relationships yesterday and made it to the end of the day doesn't mean that tomorrow's guaranteed. So you have to work at it again the next day, and you have to keep working at it.
A great reminder about never taking our relationships for granted and continuing to climb that mountain together everyday. It's exciting to have this journey with individuals knowing that some days there will be storms and others will reveal a beautiful lake and that it is only through this effort and growth together that we can maintain our togetherness.
