In my goal of reading two books each month, I'm in the back 30 pages of Rex Murphy's Points of View.
The later part of the book has been a bit more biting and cynical than my own viewpoint. Which is in contrast to the first half of the book that I couldn't wait to fall into. It also had points that if you weren't as up on goings on around the turn of the century, you would get a bit lost. On balance, its been a good read. Especially for moments like this one as Murphy eulogizes Dr. John Munro Ross:
Having a wide concept of neighbour might be the definition of a civilized human being.
In the internet age the term neighbour can stretch far. It's likely if we were to all push our concept of neighbour just a wee bit further the world would be better off for it.
