I'm more of an early bird than your average person, but even still it's tricky to get up, get going and start putting energy into the things that will make a difference. To that end, I'm trying to implement a few of these habits fromNick Wignall's Medium article - The Secret to Becoming an Annoyingly Productive Early Morning Person.
I also really want to strive to stop letting things hijack my morning hours. It's pretty rare that the things I let take over my time are actually urgent. A friend once told me "there's no such thing as an urgent email, that's what the phone is for." What would happen if I didn't check my email for the first time until 11am and spent those first few hours really digging into the work I needed to get done? Here's hoping I can resist the resistance and calm my monkey mind enough to find out :)
