I subscribe to many blogs, newsletters, instagram feeds, etc. for lots of people I admire and find inspiring. I actually only read a few religiously. The others, I pop in and out of. I like to think that I manage to pop in and out at the right times.
Today I got this great article from Thrive Global by author Benjamin Hardy. It's about the 15 things you should do in order to become a millionaire. It's a catchy title and many of the tips could be used if you wanted to write your first book, start a business or any number of ambitious ventures. The essence is summed up in this quote that Benjamin begins with:
“The greatest reward in becoming a millionaire is not the amount of money that you earn. It is the kind of person that you have to become to become a millionaire.” — Jim Rohn
The article was a great validation of many of the things I'm trying to do and a good nudge on a few that I need to work a little harder toward.
Number one – invest 10% of your income in yourself. When I first decided to apply for and self-fund the altmba, it seemed a little scary. I'd had student loans to pay for my education before, but somehow investing our income into this learning journey seemed different.
Like anything, once you've crossed the bridge and done it, it seems silly that you hadn't been doing it all along. It felt great to have manifested my belief in myself in such a tangible way. It's like betting on yourself.
Each of the fifteen things you should do struck a chord. It's a great manifesto and reminder of how to live your life if you want to leave a legacy and make change in yourself and the world around you.
