Learning Debt to the Future

Continuing on my quote-tastic week, I'm pulling from George Peabody – who the Google doodle was dedicated to today. George Peabody is the father of modern philanthropy and was awarded a Congressional medal for this 150 years ago. He gave to numerous education and other charitable institutions in the U.S. and the U.K. His name still appears at many of them today.

Mr. Peabody was born to a family with limited means in Massachusetts. Despite amassaing a very large fortune, he maintained his frugal lifestyle and chose to contribute his wealth to many causes.

He believed strongly in education's ability to give opportunity and that we did not just owe it to ourselves, but to future generations to invest in learning over our lifetime. We take our other debts very seriously, may we add this one on the same level as any of our financial ones.
