I just ordered a new book – Bernadette Jiwa's Story Driven. Here's an excerpt from the summary about the book:
Successful organisations and the people who create, build and lead them don’t feel the need to compete, because they know who they are and they’re not afraid to show us.
How about you?
What do you stand for?
Where are you headed and why?
What’s been the making of you?
As I ordered this book tonight I found myself checking in on my commitment to read 26 books this year. I've finished 6 in total and am about 20% into number 7 (on track for this goal, yay!). All of the books have gone back and forth between Newfoundland and First Nation authors. I'd noticed the pattern before and hadn't really thought much of it. Something clicked when I read these questions on the Amazon order page for this book from Bernadette Jiwa.
I'm going back and forth between what's made me and the person I'm forming for the future. I love falling back into Newfoundland authors because they give me comfort in a familiar setting and new perspectives on my own upbringing. I also know that for myself and many other Canadians, reconciliation will be a part of our future.
I haven't quite figured out how all of these books are informing my future direction, however; I'm really looking forward to continuing to follow this thread on the edge to see where it takes me.
