I'm wrapping up my fourth year as a volunteer with Calgary Foundation and my first year as a donor. The Foundation is one of the things that helped make Calgary feel like home by allowing me get up close and personal with the amazing people, organizations and projects that are happening in Calgary.
As a member of the Arts and Heritage Committee, I'm grateful to get to offer the wisdom I have to ensure the Foundation makes great grants. Though I often feel like I get more energy and learning out of the process than I put in.
Every year in May/June Calgary Foundation (and many community foundations across Canada) distribute the Vital Signs survey. This survey helps keep a pulse on what's happening in the community, especially as it relates to core issues with belonging, living standards, the environment, the economy and more. That survey is combined with research happening in the city and wrapped into one great report that is released annually each fall.
This information is used by thousands of organizations and leaders across the city as an annual check-in on the progress we're trying to make together. It's also a great chance to learn about how we're doing and what we can learn from other cities across the country.
I hope that you'll take a few minutes to complete the survey have your voice heard. If you're not in Calgary, take a minute to search out the vital signs report and community foundation in your area.
