2019 – Family Time

We’re rounding out the first month of 2019 and I’m finally getting a chance to articulate the intentions that I’ve been working through in my head.

There are three:

1. Keep writing

2. Lean into Mom-gear

3. Don’t forget the village

The first one is pretty simple. Figure out how to keep writing a habit. This will also include making sure I ship a blog post at least once each week.

Next up is leaning into Mom-gear. I think I’ve mostly shifted into being a Mom. What I’m running up against now is being comfortable with letting that be my gear this year. My career has already had 10+ years of my best energy and it will definitely have more in later years. For the foreseeable future, especially for 2019, it’s time to let my family have the best of me 24/7. This intention will also include working through Mom-guilt, anxiety and figuring out how to still make time for myself within all of that.

Last, don’t forget the village. Like many people, I’m bad at asking for and receiving help. With being so far away from my family, I need to try to leap passed this in 2019. I’m so lucky to have a community of friends who I adore and who love to help one another. I’m getting used to this next little bit being more about receiving from that village rather than my more comfortable giving role.
