Today is International Women’s Day. I’ve been blessed to be raised by strong women.
From my Mom and Grandmothers to my Aunts and cousins, I had endless examples of women who showed me how to own my voice and strength. I was raised alongside strong sisters who demonstrate how women can own their big hearts and their brains.
As I grew older, I’ve been lucky enough to find countless strong women along my path who have taught me how to show up as a human that balances being fierce, vulnerable and kind.
This International Women’s Day, I’m reflecting on what it means to raise a strong woman. What world will my daughter grow up in?
There’s a lot out of my control with that question. I can; however, make sure that I role model moving through this world with integrity, confidence and love and kindness for myself and others. I’ve learned the most from watching other women in my life show up in many situations anchored in those virtues.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #BalanceforBetter. It’s focus is to find ways to create gender balance in society. Board rooms, C-Suites, pay equity and even investment literacy are all areas we still need progress.
