I missed yesterday. As one of my dear friends would say I was practicing vacation with my family. Learnings today are from Seth Godin’s Akimbo podcast – Aravind.
1. Work is voluntary – we motivate others to work by influence and inspiration rather than authority.
2. Focus on how to get better vs how to get more. We have to get smart about what is being measured. That’s why there is a movement to get rid of quarterly earning reports. Money is easy to measure so it often becomes the default. Money isn’t the point. It’s the result of making the change better and better everyday. Right metrics are essential to succeed.
3. You don’t have to take the gifts your past success has granted. Just because it’s the next step doesn’t mean it’s the right one.
