One of my commitments to myself post-honeymooncation was to work on being more intentional with my time. As I'm nearing the back end of 2016 I'm starting to look back on how I'm doing with this. While I've gotten better at dealing with lots of priorities and not going limbic, I don't know if I've improved at all with not getting caught up in the busyness of things. I still think that there's a focus that I'm missing and an ability to say no that would serve me well. I keep coming back to this blog by Seth Godin on this topic.
As I've been reading more Aboriginal authors it's struck me the contrast in pace. I was reading a section in Richard Wagamese's Keeper'N Me that captures this: "But the whiteman's been inventin' things for a long time now. They kinda got used to the speed of their world gettin' faster'n faster with each new invention." It's a pace that we've brought upon ourselves and I'm not sure at what point there began to be diminishing returns from this pace of evolution.
I'm still mulling through what my theme for 2017 is going to be. 2016 was about courage and being authentic. I'm starting to think though that 2017 will have something to do with focus and using the courage muscle I've built this year to say no.
