Sticking to our Values

When I was a teenager I had a hard time living into my values. I have lots of shameful memories where I hurt others or stood by as others were hurt because I was trying to fit in. As I entered my 20's I slowly and steadily stood stronger and stronger on what I believe in. I stopped trying to hustle to fit in with what I thought other people would value and went with what felt right to me.

I was lucky that my values and sense of self were implanted so deeply in me through family, culture and place that I almost felt unbalanced if I wasn't being true to what was at my core. Our values are tested everyday and how we move through these situations and whether we hold true to what we say we believe is the measure of who we are as humans.
